Happy Tuesday!

It was a wet one today.  We managed to get some outside time in this afternoon once the rain stopped.  We had several kids who weren't dressed for the weather (i.e. no jackets, were cold in shorts) and got quite wet and cold at lunch time.  If you could please send a coat and proper footwear to school it would greatly help us to keep your child warm and dry.

A notice went home today regarding student photos on September 24th.

Today was our first Roots of Empathy visit from Mrs. Martens.  Today she talked to us about our babies that will be coming to visit us starting next week.  The kids are excited to meet them!  We talked about what empathy means.  Ask your child about the green blanket.  Mrs. Martens read us a story called On Mother's Lap.  You can ask your child about this story.

We are continuing our Friendship Journals where we learn about and write about a new student every day.  Ask your child who they wrote about today.  The kids get to interview the student, learning about how to ask questions versus making comments.  We model the writing process and proper sentence structure and then set the kids free to create a page about that student.  This helps us get to know everyone a bit better in our learning community.

Today we continued with our math centers focused on numeracy to see what your child already knows and where to go next.

Library books will be coming home soon and Home Reading will be starting soon as well.

Have a terrific day and looking forward to Wednesday!
