Reminders

  • TOMORROW IS THE TERRY FOX RUN! We will be participating in this event along with TMC school and Tuscany school. We will be going on the run regardless of weather, so please check the forecast so that your child will be warm enough.
  •  We are collecting "Toonies for Terry"
  • Choir will start on Tuesday, October 1st at lunchtime for students who are interested in participating. Permission forms were sent home earlier in the month.
  • Monday September 30th is Orange Shirt day. Wear an orange shirt to school. Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for all people to come together in the spirit of reconciliation. Orange Shirt day began in 2013 when residential school survivor, Phyllis Webstad, shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at a residential school.   You can show your support for promoting reconciliation in welcoming, caring, respectful, safe, and inclusive school communities by wearing an orange shirt.

Highlights from our day...

We did a great job building stamina reading to self today. We had a goal of reading for 5 minutes and we surpassed that. Great job learning to stay focused during this reading practice time!

In Math we followed up our talk yesterday by showing how to make 10 in different ways in our math journal. Students were able to show their learning in individual ways.

We talked about Terry Fox and students described him as being Canada's Hero, kind, caring, a legend, giving, unbelievable, loving, hard working, brave, strong, awesome and a bucket filler. They admired that he never gave up and that he ran in every kind of weather! Students then designed a running shoe in honour of Terry Fox.

Students participated in an art project focusing on lines. They learned about the artist Piet Mondrian and created art pieces inspired by his work.
