Swimming: Forms went home today. Sorry for any confusion. They are due back by Friday January 17th. Mrs. Campbell will create a sign up genius and send the link in the blog tomorrow for parent volunteers. Our Pod has been assigned to two weeks of swimming so we have divided the kids up into each week. The week that your child swims has been written at the top the first page on the swim form.
We had a visit from Saakokotoo (Blackfoot Elder) and he shared lots with us: teachings and stories:
-languages are important
-the gifts of winter
-Blackfoot: teaching in 4's is important (i.e. the seasons and phases of growth: baby, adolescent, adult and senior)
-everything we need comes from the land
-"Na-a" means "Mother Earth" in Blackfoot
Today Mr. Kai is back filling in for Mr. Lawson doing literacy support and math support. We worked on our guided reading and literacy centers. In Math, we worked on patterning. Grade 1 students need to know about repeating patterns and Grade 2 students need to know about repeating patterns and growing patterns.
Ask your child what they did in gym (hint: basketball).
This afternoon we started our new rotation: Literacy/Math in the mornings and Gym/Music/Inquiry in the afternoons. Ask your child about what group they were in and what they will be learning about.
Have a warm and safe night!
