Wednesday January 15th

Swim Forms are due on Friday January 17th as some kids start swimming on Monday.

Volunteers: We are desperate for volunteers for next week.  If you can come and help us out, please sign up using the link sent home yesterday in the blog message.

Literacy: We all read the story Owl Moon in our home room groups.  We talked about the brain pockets we have been working on and which pocket the story fits into: memory, fact or imagination.  Ask your child which pocket fits the story (hint: memory and/or imagination).  We shared personal memory pocket stories-things that we do with our families: Tell me about a time you spent with your family.  Kids then wrote and drew about this memory in their journals.

Math: We continued with our math groups working on patterning.  Ask your child what they did in their group.  Ms. Disher's group started an assessment on labeling, extending, translating and creating patterns.  Mrs. Bates's Group:Demonstrating our understanding of repeating patterns with a core more than 4.  Mrs. Campbell's Group: Made repeating patterns on mittens.

Inquiry:  We all have gym in the afternoon then move to our inquiry groups.  Today Group B/Harmony G learned about the arctic fox in the Northwest Territories as we are learning about Flora and Fauna.  Group A and Mrs. Bowles's class are working on learning about Emily Carr the Artist.

Have a fabulous night and please stay warm!
