🌤Happy Thursday, Everyone! ðŸŒ¤

UPDATE

Please check your parent email for a message from your child's teacher regarding Google meet and Google classroom. It was really great to see some of you this morning! Looking forward to seeing the rest of you this afternoon ☺️

Mrs. Campbell has prepared a morning message for you.

Mrs. Bates thought a silly story would brighten your day.  We hope you enjoy "Giggle, Giggle, Quack" by Doreen Cronin.

Today's Task
Subject: Literacy

Technology:
Computer/Tablet/Phone (Only necessary for connecting with Google Meet and uploading work to Iris)

Materials:
Pencil
Writing notebook or visual journal

Support:
Parents/guardians may need to help explain the instructions and read out the questions.

Timeframe:
Google Meeting - 20 min
Task - 30 min

Task:
If you were able to attend one of today’s Google Meet video conferences, please follow task #1. If you were not able to attend the Google Meet video conferences, please skip to task #4.

1. After you’ve attended the Google Meet, think back to how you felt as you were logging in. Were you excited? Nervous, maybe? During the conference, how did you feel to see some of your friends and teachers? What were some things about the experience that you liked? Maybe there were somethings you didn’t like or would like to improve. How easy was it for you to use the technology?

2. Write your sentences in your journal. You are asked to write three to five (3-5) sentences. Of course, if you can write more than five sentences, you are encouraged to do so.

3. If you would like some sentences starters to help you start your writing, you can use the ones below.
    • I was ___________.
    • I felt __________.
    • I liked ______________.
You can now skip to Task #7.

4. If you could not attended the Google Meet, dig into your memory pocket from Spring Break or the last week and a half.  What were some fun things you did? Share some activities you may have done to pass the time or things you’ve done to stay active. These are very different times. What are some things that have changed for you?

5. Write your sentences in your journal. You are asked to write three to five (3-5) sentences. Of course, if you can write more than five sentences, you are encouraged to do so.

6. If you would like some sentences starters to help you start your writing, you can use the ones below.
    • Over Spring Break, I ___________.
    • To stay active, I like to __________.
    • My favourite part of Spring Break was ______________.

7. Once you are done writing your sentences in your journal, you can draw a picture to go along with your work.

8. Take a photograph of your work and e-mail it to your responsibility teacher using your gmail. (IRIS is not currently working)

Suggested Activities To Check Out Today:

Art Project:  Jim Dine is a Pop Artist who has done some amazing work!  Some of you from last year may remember the "heart project" we did.  We would like to do this again.  You have a choice to make a HEART or for those of you that celebrate Easter, you can make an EASTER EGG.  We are hoping everyone will make one and submit their picture in IRIS so we can collage them all together and repost it for you to see!

Watch the 2 videos below to learn more about the Artist...

Now...
Get a piece of blank paper (you can even tear one out of your visual journal-you can try a colored piece of paper if you have one!).

Fold it into 4 squares...I used black marker so you can see what I did...

Cut out one square...

Decide: heart or egg?  Draw/design/color/decorate! Be creative with whatever you have at home (glue, colored paper, recycled materials, pencils, felt markers, paint, etc.)  Draw with pencil first...I found drawing an egg took me some time!  Your heart or egg should take up most of the square.

Submit a picture of your heart/egg into IRIS for us to see!

Story to watch (it has more rhyming words!): There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Chick!
