Reminders:
Week 2 Swimming has started.
- We swim in the very first group and the bus picks us up from the school at 8:25. We are requesting that if your child is swimming to be on time as the bus needs to leave promptly to get back in time to pick up the second group.
- Students that are not swimming will come in at the regular bell.
Our Day:
Literacy: Students practiced read to self, read to others and/or literacy centres today. A few small groups of children worked with teachers in guided reading groups. We also read the book Elmer, and then retold the story in pictures and by using the prompts first, then, next and last.
Math: Students who were not swimming worked on problem solving. Students learned how to show their understanding using words, pictures and numbers. We are ensuring that the students are covering the same material as they other group did while they were swimming in January.
Inquiry:
Group A: Students continued to learn about the past and present of Victoria as we are learning about a coastal region in Canada. Students sketched and learned about homes and transportation in the 1800s to early 1900s.
Group B: Students learned about food chains and the specific food chain of the arctic animal they chose to study.
